Liverpool hardman, Javier Mascherano has become the forgotten man in Barcelona’s shopping list over the past few weeks as the treble winners centre their full attention on David Villa and subsequently Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
But coach, Pep Guardiola is still insistent on bringing another world class central midfielder to bolster the squad in anticipation of Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita temporarily departure from the Camp Nou for the African Nations Cup in early 2010.
According To Elmundo Deportivo, Barca will get in touch with Mascherano’s representatives soon to re-open negotiations to sign the Argentina captain.
Liverpool manager, Rafa Benitez rates ‘Masche’ at €30 million but the midfielder could be permanently tagged as indispensable should they lose Xabi Alonso as well.
